Summary

PortdayGuide can be used without creating an account. The planner runs in the browser, and plans are not intentionally uploaded to a PortdayGuide account or profile. Some technical processing is still necessary to deliver the website, request near-term weather, retrieve live excursion data, and follow an external booking link.

Planner data

The planner uses the ship name, sailing date, traveler count, party type, pace, interests, mobility preference, budget, ports, arrival times, and all-aboard times that you choose to enter. Ship name and port dates are optional. The browser uses those values to construct the itinerary shown on the page.

Local storage

Plans saved with the Save button are stored in your browser on that device. PortdayGuide currently does not offer an account or cross-device synchronization. Clearing the site’s browser storage removes those saved plans. Someone with access to the same browser profile may be able to open them.

Shared-plan links

A shared-plan link contains an encoded copy of the preferences needed to reconstruct the plan. Anyone who receives the complete link may be able to view those itinerary details. The link is not password protected, does not expire automatically, and should not be treated as private storage. Do not include information in a plan that you would not want a link recipient to see.

Weather requests

When a port date is within the supported forecast window, PortdayGuide requests weather for the port’s stored coordinates from MET Norway. The weather lookup is based on the port and date. It does not need to send your name, payment information, booking confirmation, or full itinerary to the weather provider.

Live excursion requests

PortdayGuide may request current excursion information from Viator through a server-side connection. The request is used to retrieve destination and product fields for the page being viewed, such as price, pricing unit, rating, duration, image, and booking URL. A booking is not created by loading those cards.

Outbound and affiliate links

When you follow an external booking, map, photo, or source link, your browser connects to that third party. The destination can receive standard request information and may use cookies or similar technologies under its own policies. Affiliate links may also carry referral information so the destination can attribute an eligible booking. PortdayGuide does not control the destination’s account, checkout, payment, or tracking choices.

Technical delivery data

The hosting, network, and security services that deliver PortdayGuide may process ordinary request data such as IP address, browser type, requested page, timing, and security signals. This kind of processing is used to serve and protect the site. PortdayGuide does not currently use it to create a traveler account or combine saved plans across devices.

What not to enter

Do not enter passport numbers, visa details, booking confirmation numbers, loyalty numbers, payment information, medical records, precise home addresses, or other sensitive personal information. PortdayGuide does not need those details to build a port-day structure.

Retention and deletion

Saved plans remain in local browser storage until you delete them, clear the site data, or the browser removes them. PortdayGuide cannot remotely delete a plan stored only in your browser. Shared links may remain wherever recipients, messaging services, browsers, or other systems have retained them, so avoid sharing sensitive details in the first place.

Children

The site is a general travel-planning tool and is not designed to collect personal information directly from children. A parent or guardian should manage any itinerary that involves a child and should avoid entering identifying or sensitive information about the child.

Security and changes

No website or link-sharing method can promise absolute security. Keep your device and browser account protected, and share plan links carefully. This notice may be updated when the planner, hosting, integrations, or data practices change. The date above identifies the current version.
